Returning to the Nest
June 11, 2013Cabinets & Designs + The Red Vault
June 25, 2013Can you feel that? It’s summertime in Houston! Heat and humidity climb steadily higher, but there is still time to lay by the pool! When the sun’s rays get to be too much, our fair city has lots of cool things to do. Our theme this month on the Cabinets & Designs blog is how to manage guests of the long-term and short-term variety; this week our topic is where to bring your summer houseguests to cool off while having fun in Houston.
Waterparks
Whether you are expecting the grandkids for a long visit, or simply hosting friends with children for a short weekend, waterparks are favorite with kids. Schlitterbahn on Galveston Island is an excellent, family-friendly option. Are the grandkids staying all summer? Check out Schlitterbahn’s season pass option!
The Beach
Speaking of Galveston Island, how about a stay at the beach? Galveston is a short drive from Houston, and has activities and attractions for all ages. In addition to long, lazy days at the beach, you can tour Moody Gardens, visit Bishop’s Palace, and enjoy meals at many wonderful restaurants along the beach.
Ice Skating at the Galleria
Ice skating? In July? Sure, why not! You can ice skate year-round at Ice at the Galleria, a beloved Houston icon for more than three decades.
Kemah Boardwalk
Less than an hour from Houston is the Kemah Boardwalk, just east of Clear Lake. One of the best destinations for family fun, the boardwalk has beautiful waterfront restaurants, festivals, retail stores, rides, and more. From rock-n-roll to July 4 fireworks, Kemah Boardwalk makes a great day trip from the city of Houston.
