January 20, 2016C&D President Maria Frank Shares Her ‘Best of KBIS’ Products
February 3, 2016You know that old joke: “I just flew in, and boy are my arms tired!” Well, we just returned from the 2016 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas and boy, are we tired! It was a jam-packed, non-stop adventure and we can’t wait to share details of our trip with you over the next few weeks. We’re going to be bringing you the latest innovations from Wood-Mode, a round-up of C&D President Maria Frank’s top picks from the show, and more. Today we are going to touch on some of the larger, overarching themes and trends that were featured that we think will take hold in 2016.
Trend: Luxury
Every room in the house is ripe for a luxury upgrade, from the bathroom to the kitchen to the entertainment spaces. Kohler is turning our bathrooms into luxury home spas with their gorgeous Invigoration Series, a customizable set of steam generators and controls. Need even more luxury? Pair it with a DTV + digital showering system. You may never leave the bathroom again.
Trend: Tech
Appliances and hardware are getting even more high-tech; from motion-sensors to ordering groceries directly from your refrigerator, tech innovations continue to dominate the conversation at KBIS each year. We couldn’t take our eyes off of the LG Signature Kitchen Suite series which is the latest in the premium, high-tech cooking appliance field; the line’s $9,800 side-by-side “smart” refrigerator boasts KNOCK-on Door-in-Door™ technology that lights up the interior, allowing you to peek inside without opening the door. Arms full of groceries? Don’t worry—there’s a step-activated smart sensor that can open the door for you.
Trend: Home Security
Another cool trend we noticed was in home security—specifically, high-tech home security through smart locks. Yale showed two smart locks and a video doorbell at KBIS—read about them here—that not only improve security, but allow you to check locks remotely, turn down your thermostat, and more.
