Houston for the Holidays: A Family-Friendly Guide
December 3, 2013Christmas Dinner: Where to Eat in Houston
December 17, 2013This week’s guest author is Cabinets & Designs’ Rick Beckham, CMKBD
Last month I had the opportunity to visit the production facility of our newest cabinet vendor, Canyon Creek Cabinetry. My journey took me to Monroe, Washington, which is located about 50 miles northeast of Seattle. Prior to the recent settlement of small to midsized manufacturing companies, Monroe was a small town that serviced two state prisons and a reformatory!
I wanted to get a better picture of a new line we are excited to represent, Katana, by Canyon Creek. Katana is a frameless cabinet, offering twenty door styles in five wood species, and MDF. Within each wood species there are 10 stain colors available, as well as glazing options, opaques, foils and a new surface called Thermo Structured Surface (TSS). TSS is a wood-grained, textured, low-pressure laminate that is heat stamped onto core material, offering wood texture with great durability at a very competitive price.
One of the truly great surprises I found was the line of built-in, custom closet components. Canyon Creek developed this system without the benefit of a previous model, and produced a product that truly functions as efficient wardrobe organization, that is simple to design with, and order. Both melamine doors, and solid wood doors, are available in a variety of colors and species. Now a built-in closet can be a part of a suite when paired with a Canyon Creek bathroom. The system works for built-in pantry solutions as well.
Cabinets and Designs is looking forward to introducing Canyon Creek to the Houston area. Overall, the line will be a quality product, with a ton of finish options, at a value-oriented price point.
