Christmas Dinner: Where to Eat in Houston
December 17, 2013Home Trends for 2014 (kitchen, bath, closet)
January 14, 2014One of our favorite annual events is the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show, and we are already excited for the 2014 show in Las Vegas. This year’s show is going to be bigger and better than ever; KBIS will be joined by the International Builders’ Show (IBS), with both shows co-locating under the banner of Design & Construction Week. The new event has moved up on the calendar as well—we’ll be off to Nevada in just a few weeks for the February 4-6 conference.
Favorite Brands
We always look forward to seeing everything Wood-Mode is showing at KBIS, and we know we will stop by to see them on the exhibit floor. Sub-Zero will return to the KBIS exhibit floor, and it’s always impressive to see their top-of-the-line, high-performance appliances, and to chat with their experts on the latest in high-end kitchen trends.
Other brands on the 2014 KBIS exhibitor list we can’t wait to see include Canyon Creek Cabinetry, Cosentino, and Kohler.
The Conference
In addition to the opportunity to see new products and materials on the exhibition floor, KBIS is also a conference with courses designed to help industry professionals continue their education. The conference offers us the ability to network with colleagues from across the country, in an educational environment. We learn so much every year at KBIS, both in our education sessions and from our fellow industry professionals. Many of these sessions allow us to earn continuing education credits (CEUs), which are how our designers (including ours) achieve professional designer designations such as “Associate Kitchen & Bath Designer” (AKBD) or “Certified Master Kitchen and Bath Designer” (CMKBD).
The New KBIS At a Glance
According to the official National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) press release, the creation of Design & Construction Week 2014 will bring two shows together in such a way to create “one place to see and connect with every aspect of residential construction and remodeling.” DCW 2014 is expected to draw more than 75,000 attendees—specifiers, builders, dealers, and suppliers—and 2,000 exhibiting brands.
More Changes in 2015
Design & Construction Week will expand again in 2015, when they add SURFACES and StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas.
- SURFACES is sponsored by the World Floor Covering Association, and is the largest floor-covering industry event in North America for retailers, distributors, installers, designers, and home builders.
- StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas is sponsored by the Marble Institute of America and the Natural Stone Council; it is the only show in North America focused solely on the natural stone industry.
We’ll bring you all of our favorite trends and products from KBIS in February 2014!
