KBIS 2018 Spotlight: Best Bathroom
February 21, 2018The Brookhaven ‘Essentials’ Sale Returns!
March 7, 2018Last week we talked about a special KBIS “show home” which served as part-renovation display, part-event venue. Cabinets & Designs president Maria Frank was impressed by the attention to detail in the master bathroom, calling it one of the highlights of her KBIS experience. This week we’re going to take a closer look at the equally-impressive renovated kitchen from the same space.
High-Tech Touch
The first thing Maria noticed was the customized refrigerator—handle-free, this refrigerator door opens with a touch of the fingertips but as you can see in the photo the designer added decorative hardware. It wasn’t just the technology that caught Maria’s eye, however.
“What really grabbed my attention in the kitchen was the way the designer had raised the front of the cabinets up to meet the height of the refrigerator,” said Frank. “Making that all uniform to the eye is just great detail—the mark of a designer paying attention.”
Another example of the designer’s attention to detail is the outlet installed on the edge of the kitchen island. A designer clearly thought about both design and function—the placement is perfect for charging, but you can also see that the design details have been customized and lengthened to fit the space. Now that’s attention to detail.
Lightening the Load: The Ultimate Laundry Room
It’s not quite as glamorous as a touch-open refrigerator, but the KBIS 2018 showroom home also featured a fantastic laundry room. In addition to double stacked washers and dryers, the room was equipped with a farmhouse sink, plenty of above- and below-counter cabinets for storage, and plenty of undercounter lighting for folding and other tasks. Above-counter cabinets feature beadboard inserts, so extra storage is also eye-catching. An empty space in the undercabinetry is perfect for a dog crate or bed.
