November 4, 2015Here comes Halloween, and all of the spooky fun that comes along with it! Let’s take a look at some of the best Halloween fun Houston has to offer this week …
The nationally-ranked Children’s Museum of Houston is hosting three weeks of “Monster Mayhem” including daily trick-or-treat, now through Halloween night! Moe’s Monster Bash is on Halloween night, and includes glow-in-the-dark slime making and a costume party.
Another great option for kids and families is a trip to the Houston Zoo. Zoo Boo is an ongoing Halloween celebration—don’t miss out on the fun! Included in the price of your admission ticket, Zoo Boo has lots of great attractions like a pumpkin patch, monster mural, candy cave, and more. Kids should wear their costumes, and don’t forget the trick-or-treat bags! Be sure to check out Howlerween, a special Zoo Boo celebration of howler monkeys with Zoe the Zookeeper.
Now through November 7 you can visit the Lawndale Art Center to see their annual Dia de los Muertos exhibition. The ongoing event includes exhibitions, classes, and of course a closing Family Day Fiesta party (free to the public!) for families and children honoring participating teachers and students whose artwork can be viewed in the Cavnar and Horton galleries.
You can always count on the National Museum of Funeral History to have some great Halloween events to choose from! Located near Spring, this offbeat museum is a “cult favorite” all year long, but they really put on a show in October! From their month-long haunted house to their special “Myths and Legends of the Graveyard” exhibit—not to mention their 8th Annual Halloween Classic Car Show!—the National Museum of Funeral History is a hidden Houston gem.
Above all, remember to have a safe and happy Halloween! Don’t forget to check out the City of Houston’s Halloween safety tip sheet!
