Thanksgiving Dining in Houston
November 19, 2013Houston for the Holidays: A Family-Friendly Guide
December 3, 2013Everyone at Cabinets & Designs is wishing you and your loved ones a happy, healthy holiday season. Thanksgiving is just a few days away, and while we are all looking forward to tucking in at the dinner table with our family and friends, we pause for a moment to remember those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
Houston has many wonderful charitable organizations that are helping to provide a Thanksgiving dinner for the less fortunate. If you want to donate money, food, or volunteer your time, we recommend contacting any of the fine organizations listed below. May we all enjoy the coming holiday season with an “attitude of gratitude.” Check with your church, local charity organizations, and even family and friends, to reach out and help someone less fortunate this holiday season.
Houston Food Bank
The Houston Food Bank works year-round to feed Houston’s food insecure population by supplying food pantries, Backpack Buddy programs, soup kitchens, and meal sites. You can help this holiday season in three ways:
-
What can you do with $1 this Thanksgiving? Every dollar provided can feed up to three hungry men, women, and children.
-
Donate items listed on the Houston Food Bank Most Needed Items list.
Houston Turkey Trot
Participate (or cheer on the runners and donate) in the annual TXU Turkey Trot, which benefits Neighborhood Centers, Inc. Sheltering Arms Senior Services.
Star of Hope Mission
The Star of Hope Mission is accepting online donations to help provide Thanksgiving dinner to the homeless. They are also hosting a Matching Gift Challenge, thanks to a generous donation—your money can go twice as far to feed the homeless this Thanksgiving.
Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston
This year the Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston will hold its 25th annual Meals on Wheels Thanksgiving Delivery. Driver registration is closed, but they are looking for backup drivers and donations—find out more online.
From our family to yours—Happy Thanksgiving.
