Cabinets & Designs’ Top Three: News from the Showroom
July 6, 2016In the Showroom, It’s Wood-Mode by Design
July 20, 2016One of the most exciting updates to our new showroom is our new reception area. We had the opportunity to reimagine our own first impression, and create something beautiful for clients to see when they first walk through our doors. We considered many options before making our final decision.
The answer: Dekton by Cosentino.
About Dekton by Cosentino
A few weeks ago we wrote about Dekton by Cosentino, focusing on the material’s incredible durability—its scratch-resistance and ability to withstand staining are just the beginning of the story when it comes to Dekton’s performance. Resistance to UV rays makes it perfect for the outdoors, and Dekton never needs sealing—great for the long haul. Dekton even has large-scale possibilities that go far beyond countertops, including siding and exterior facades.
Dekton Definition: Ultracompact Surface
So what is Dekton, exactly? Dekton is described as an “ultracompact surface”, created by Particle Sintering Technology (PST). PST accelerates the metamorphic changes that natural stone undergoes via high pressure and high temperatures over thousands of years, creating a surface that is as ideal for a kitchen countertop as it is for high-traffic flooring or wall cladding. Dekton is a mix of raw materials used in glass production, latest-generation porcelain tiles, and quartz surfaces. Aside from offering exceptional color stability and resistance to abrasion, scratching, and heat/fire, Dekton is fireproof and resistant to thawing and freezing.
Safe, beautiful, long-lasting, and low-maintenance, Dekton is truly revolutionary.
Desk Details
When designing our new reception desk we chose to mix two colors from two different collections to create visual interest. Trilium comes from the new Tech Collection, and contrasting Domoos—a charcoal grey approaching black–is from the Solid Collection.
When we first saw the sample for Trilium, we were struck by the combination of beautiful colors, as well as the distinctive design. At once elegant and industrial, Trilium is impactful; we love the contrast with Domoos, and the overall effect is impactful. We are ready to make a first impression!
