The Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) is the largest home builders association in Texas and the third-largest nationwide. GHBA members are involved in all aspects of the development, homebuilding, and remodeling industry, including advocacy. In a few weeks, GHBA members—including Cabinets & Designs’ president Maria Frank—will descend on Austin to visit with state legislators and lobby on legislation affecting homebuilders across Texas.
About Rally Day
On Wednesday, March 20, builders from more than 30 local associations of the Texas Association of Builders will visit the state capital to visit with elected officials about legislation affecting homebuilders.
Rally Day provides homebuilding professionals with a valuable opportunity to discuss policy and legislation face-to-face with our state representatives. This event only happens once every two years, which makes attending and speaking out an important task for stakeholders in our industry.
GHBA Advocacy: A Year-Round Effort
Protecting the industry from burdensome regulations by keeping building costs affordable is just one part of GHBA’s advocacy efforts. The GHBA Government Affairs committee monitors and reviews the codes and ordinances that directly impact homebuilders, and communicates with policymakers on a host of industry issues. The Government Affairs committee also formulates and advocates for needed changes, as well as keeping members abreast of current issues, new laws, and regulatory and administrative issues.
