February 3, 20162016 Trends: Reflections on Glass Surfaces
February 17, 2016This year’s trend for kitchens is technology, technology, technology, says Houston-area Kohler representative Lori Smith. Homeowners don’t have to choose between form and function with the new generation of sinks, faucets, and accessories for the kitchen (and the bath, for that matter). At Kohler, the marriage of high-tech and high-end design allows you to fully integrate your kitchen and bathrooms in a unique style that’s all your own.
“Anything homeowners can operate from their smartphone, or that has that look or function of a smartphone, with that touch-screen technology,” she said. “Touchless kitchen faucets, like our Sensate™ and Beckon™ lines, are also really popular with homeowners. That even carries over to the bathroom with touchless toilets, and even hand driers in the home.”
Also popular with homeowners is the “eclectic elegance” of the Artifacts line, said Lori. The Artifacts faucet and accessories collection was inspired by turn-of-the-century charm, and perfectly updates vintage charm for the modern design sensibility—not to mention function.
When it comes to trends in color and finish, Smith says that homeowners are drawn to pewter-type finishes that go with soft grey colors that remain popular with homeowners this year.
“Definitely an antique look, they are looking for that, and anything in pewter or pewter-type finishes is what they are looking for,” said Lori. “Along those lines, apron-front sinks are really hot right now—that’s definitely a trend that’s not going anywhere. Our stainless version is called Strive, and our cast iron version is called Whitehaven; apron-front sinks are everywhere.”
