This week we sat down with Grace Coffman, AKBD, to talk about one of her special design passions—closets! Grace has over 12 years of industry experience, and in addition to closets, she has what it takes to create the kitchen or bath of your dreams! Whether you are embarking on a new construction, or the remodeling of an existing space, Grace will help you achieve the look you desire, with the functionality you need.

Let’s take a look at some of Grace’s favorite trends and tricks for closet designs.
It’s All in a Name
Grace is called the Cabinets & Designs’ “Queen of Closets” because of her experience, and her passion for redesigning a space that can sometimes be overlooked. Maybe we don’t think about closets as much because they aren’t a part of the home that other people see much of, but when it comes to living, the closet is pretty important! Any space will be more pleasurable if it is neat, organized, and well-designed.
Case in Point
Some of Grace’s favorite closet projects include a 240-square foot remodel in the Houston Metropolitan area, which included a custom finish, dedicated shoe storage with glass doors (for easy visibility), and horizontal lift doors for out-of-season clothing storage. This closet also featured two-tiered hanging rails with pull-down rods, a pull-out men’s storage unit (for ties/accessories), and designated hampers for sorting regular laundry from dry cleaning.
Grace also completed three out-of-state projects, closet projects, which included features such as a customized chest of drawers, maple and acrylic dividers for socks, ties, and tees, and shoe organization in the form of both a pull-out unit, and a custom shoe tower.
