Professional organizations provide us with the connections, continuing education, and knowledge of the latest trends that our clients expect. At Cabinets & Designs we are engaged with these organizations to meet your expectations, and to grow as creative professionals. This month we are saluting the organizations—both national and local—they help us as we strive to provide the very best service to our clients.
The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) was founded in 1975 and is the oldest, largest, and the premier organization for interior designers. Today the ASID has more than 30,000 members participating in a variety of professional programs and activities, all within a network of 48 chapters throughout the U.S. and Canada.
The ASID promotes the value of interior design through education, knowledge sharing, advocacy, community building and community outreach; the belief that interior design is a powerful tool that can positively affect change in people’s lives is deeply held by members and the greater organization. Professional members of ASID must pass rigorous acceptance standards: members must have a combination of accredited design education and/or full-time work experience, as well as pass a two-day accreditation examination that is administered by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ).
With student chapters at colleges, universities, and design schools throughout the U.S. and “virtual” chapters online that encompass a student membership of more than 10,500 students, the ASID is fully committed to furthering the profession through educational support. That support remains strong for design professionals throughout their professional careers—ASID remains dedicated to continuing education for all design professionals, throughout their careers.
ASID also wants you, the consumer, to have access to resources to foster your love for design. TheASID Consumer Center includes numerous resources for design enthusiasts, clients, and consumers to learn more about interior design, including:
• Designing for the Home: Green, Safety, Value, Ease/Convenience, Children
• Designing for a Commercial Space: Design & Behavior, Health & Safety, Design Thinking, Productivity
• Hire a Designer: Consumer Checklist, Referral Service, Tips for Working with a Designer
• Additional Information: FAQs, Videos, Testimonials, Press Releases, and more
We encourage our clients to explore the ASID website to learn more about interior design for professionals, and to spark your own imagination and creative drive.
