We all love to decorate our homes at this time of year, but it seems a shame to limit ourselves to just holiday decorations, that often come down right after the New Year. We love to extend the holiday cheer by adding seasonal decorations that can be put up earlier and left out later, so that your home retains the warm, cozy feeling of the holidays longer!
White Lights
There are few decorative touches more classic than twinkling white lights. They add warmth with minimal effort, and can be left in place for months. The individual LED candles for windows are also a nice touch, that are appropriate no matter what holiday you celebrate in your home and that can be left up for long periods of time.
Flora & Fauna
Plants and flowers are another way to bring color and life to your home, and with good care they have good lasting power. Poinsettias are notoriously short-lived plants, so if you are looking for something to grace your home from November and well into the New Year, consider some alternatives:
• Christmas (or Thanksgiving) Cactus: Long-lasting and beautiful blooms that with the proper care will last for years.
• Orchids: Consult with a florist for the right type of orchid for your home, but don’t worry—they aren’t as fussy as you think!
Find houseplants with dark, shiny greens or that bloom in whites and reds—great for the holiday season, and the rest of the year.
Ribbons & Bows
Another classic decorative touch, ribbons, garland, and beautifully-tied bows can be used as accents throughout the home, and needn’t be taken down as soon as the holidays are over. We love rich reds, metallics, and festive plaids.

Other Accents
The sky really is the limit when it comes to seasonal decorative touches. Fresh or fake greenery or berries can be tucked into vases, left peeking out from behind picture frames, or just about anywhere to add a pop of color and warmth.
From all of us at Cabinets and Designs, we are wishing you and your families the happiest of holidays, full of family, friends and fun!
