It is interesting to see how the industry is working towards making the kitchen more accessible to multiple cooks by providing several work areas. One way is integrating the latest trend in refrigeration which is modular refrigeration drawers. Refrigeration is being moved around the room to better serve the cooks in their work areas.
For example, refrigeration for vegetables can be placed near a prep sink or dry refrigeration can be placed near a stove and oven to store flour and other bake goods. There is even refrigeration being designed for children to be able to access snacks and beverages.
Refrigeration is not just for kitchens anymore, they are also being used in unconventional areas such theatres, gyms, outdoor kitchens, bedrooms, closets, and even bathrooms. Units are being installed in areas that would have been previously impossible to access.
They are typically sold as individual refrigeration or freezer units which come in a variety of sizes. Units range from 18” to 30
By dividing the units of refrigeration, counter space is opening up, auxiliary storage is being provided and flexibility and freedom in design is being created.
