As our name implies, Cabinets & Designs is about more than just providing you the best cabinets on the market. Our favorite part of our job is design. We enjoy helping our clients create a unique space they love to use. To do so, we partner with some of Houston’s finest companies and artisans. Over the coming months, we’ll introduce you to a few of our favorites, starting with Teresa Staley.
Owner of Murals & Faux By Design, Teresa has been in the decorative arts industry for over 20 years. She has worked professionally with her father, renowned artist and sculptor Roy Staley, since she was 16 years old. Teresa received her formal training at the Art Institute of Houston where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She utilizes her gifts as a fine artist to transform people’s homes into livable works of art.
As one of her clients said, “Teresa’s ideas are so creative; anything you think of, she can do.”
Teresa’s artistry is not limited to her murals, life-like trompe l’oeil paintings, or decorative stenciling. She can transform any surface to look like marble, wood grain or metal. Her faux painting techniques include glazing, color washes, blends, old world veining, suade and leather-look treatments, exotic skins, tissue paper finishes, patinas, gilding, and crackling. Imagine your home office with the warmth of faux leather walls, or your kitchen with old world Tuscan charm. To top it off, Teresa can even add details with plaster finishes to make her work seem more authentic. She is skilled in creating features out of Lusterstone, Venetian plaster, light to heavy textured plasters, and plasters with indented or raised designs. So, you can enter your Tuscan style kitchen through a faux stone doorway!
If you would like to see some of her amazing work in person, just stop by the Cabinets & Designs showroom on Westheimer at Mid Lane.
