What are you favorite family traditions for the holidays? We wanted to share some of our favorites with you—some are more “traditional” while others are a little “weird and wild” but one thing is the same: we love to spend time with our families during this special time of year.
Whether you and your family celebrate a holiday other than Christmas, or you just don’t want to be in charge of cooking the big Christmas Eve and Christmas Day meals, we have some resources to help you find a place to find a delicious meal and spend quality time with your family on December 24 and 25.
‘Tis the season for gift giving! The holidays are fast approaching, and you may be feeling the pressure to find the perfect gift. Whether you are looking for stocking stuffers, small gifts to round out the big-ticket items already on their way, or you just need help finding a few high-quality host/hostess gifts to keep on hand for parties, we have some suggestions we hope you will love!
We just wanted to take a brief moment this week to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving, and a wonderful holiday season. Thank you to all of our clients for the opportunity for creativity they bring to our lives!
Doing good feels great, which is why Cabinets & Designs is working with NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association) as a drop off location for a charity drive benefitting the SPCA. If you are interested in donating here is a list of items. Please help out an animal in need!
As hard as you work in your kitchen, it’s important to have a kitchen that works hard for you in return. The only way to accomplish that is to design a kitchen which accurately reflects, and supports, your lifestyle. A huge, sleek, modern kitchen with the highest-end appliances is great … unless you hardly ever cook! A cozy kitchen with an eat-in breakfast nook is perfect … unless you entertain frequently, and use the kitchen as an extension of your entertaining space.
David Steffan, Sr., is the founder and president of Cabinets & Designs. Mr. Steffan sat down with his daughter, Maria, and asked him to reflect on the last forty years in the kitchen and bath industry. In this interview David Steffan—affectionately known as “Senior”—shares the story of how he got his start in the kitchen and bath industry, and how that led him to open Cabinets & Designs some forty years ago.
This month Cabinets & Designs is celebrating our 40th anniversary. We are so honored that so many Houstonians chose us—decade after decade after decade after decade!—to make their homes more beautiful and functional.
As we continue to celebrate our 40th year in business, the Cabinets & Designs staff invites you to stop in to see our showroom and speak with our staff to learn how we can help you transform any room in your house. Whether you are looking for a dream kitchen for entertaining guests, or an elegant, relaxing bedroom where you can escape from the rest of the world, the team at Cabinets & Designs can help.
Cabinets & Designs is proud to announce that we are celebrating 40 years in the kitchen and bath industry this year! It’s hard to believe that forty years have gone by, and we are so grateful to our clients, new and old. Many of you have used us because your parents, or even your grandparents are our clients and that is something to be proud of—and believe us, we are.
We have noticed a trend among both our new clients, and our repeat customers: the desire to buy American. More than ever before our clients are coming in to start projects, and asking how they can invest in their homes while also investing in American-made products. These people know that when we buy products made in America we are supporting manufacturing, and manufacturing is the cornerstone of a solid economy. Part of being an educated consumer is knowing the impact of what we buy on our economy, from the local to the national level, and making informed decisions that benefit our lives, our home, and our country.
Describe your background info and how you got into your current position? I grew up in the kitchen business & went to work for my dad in 1975 (he was the Wood-Mode rep before me). I was lucky to have my dad as my mentor since he was a pioneer in the sales & design of custom manufactured kitchens. I started out servicing builder business and eventually got involved in the retail kitchen business before taking over the rep territory in 1992.
Here at Cabinets & Designs the concept of “multigenerational” is an important one. From a design standpoint we have talked about multigenerational and transgenerational design before; it’s sometimes referred to as universal design as well.
While driving by a pumpkin patch on the way to work, I started thinking about my favorite Halloween memories. Somehow, they all involved being gathered with my family in the kitchen. Whether carving pumpkins on the kitchen table with my dad or roasting the seeds with my mom, we were always in that heart of the home. So, when I arrived at Cabinets & Designs, I started asking my coworkers about their favorite halloween memories. Surprisingly, the answers were all similar: memories of early childhood halloweens, helping their parents prepare in the kitchen. So, to get you in the halloween spirit, we’re sharing some of our favorite memory making halloween tips and treats.
