Dave Jr. Interview

David Steffan, Jr. has worked in the cabinetry industry for over 35 years.  He enjoys working with clients or industry professionals to create spaces that equally incorporate beauty and functionality.  To learn more about David read his responses to our grueling interview questions:

What is your background or education in?

After 3 years at The University of Texas working towards a degree in Marketing, I decided to enter a management training program with J.C. Penney.

How did you get into the industry?

Not feeling that I had found my true calling, an opportunity in the family business became available and the rest is history.

What is your best advice to give to clients?

Know what you are buying.  If you don’t, you may unknowingly purchase an inferior product.

What has been your favorite project?

One was working with Bob Crellen on President Bush’s home when he moved back to Texas.  My other favorite was working on the Memorial Southeast and Southwest Professional Buildings and Doctor’s offices.

What was a difficult design challenge for you and how did you overcome it? 

Designing angles & curves are always difficult.  I sit down, analyze it, work different dimensions, asking how I can accomplish what the customer wants.  Brainstorming with other designers is also helpful because everyone encounters different issues in this industry.

What has been your favorite addition as far as cabinetry features go?

Having full-extension, drawer glides and soft-close hinges on doors.

Cherry Wood and Glazed Finishes.
